SSV Taufers-Handball has managed to achieve continuous and successful youth work by backing the economy in its hometown.
The section was founded in 1981 with 14 youths and trainer Peter Sulzenbacher from Innichen, which saw handball move to sand in Taufers.
Today, SSV Taufers Handball prides itself on being one of the biggest handball centres in South Tyrol with over 100 young handball players and two successful, first teams. In this context, particular emphasis is placed on the social aspect of handball.
Both girls and boys enjoy SSV Taufers. The girls were particularly successful when they moved up to the national C series in 1988. In the 1994/95 season, they won the championship in the 3rd Italian League. In 1995, they moved up to the national B series. The SSV moved up the ranks to the national A2 series in the 1996/97 season. In the 2005/06 season, both men and women from SSV Taufers competed in the national A2 series. Marius, the son of founder and CEO Dr. Martin Hellweger, plays actively in SSV Taufers first team and is on the Italian national team.
KRONBERG was an official sponsor of SSV Taufers during the 2011/2012 season.
